The Gallery
Here you'll find photos of both Musicmasters and Duo-Sonics from almost every year (pre-1990s, anyway) to illustrate the evolution of the design. For comparison, there's also a page with pictures of related guitars. Lately I've had little to no time to update this site, but if you have information to share or questions to ask, can add a photo credit to an existing picture, or would like a link to pictures of your old Musicmaster or Duo-Sonic, by all means please feel free to let me know!
- Original design (1956-1959)
Metal-'guard, one-piece maple neck Duo-Sonics and Musicmasters.
- Second version (1959-1964)
Plastic-'guard, rosewood-board Duo-Sonics and Musicmasters.
- Third version (1964-1968)
Mustang-esque Duo-Sonic IIs and Musicmaster IIs, short and long scale.
- Fourth version (1968-1976)
Music Masters, long scale only.
- Final version (1976-1981)
New (final) design Musicmasters, now more like the Bronco than the Mustang.
